We are looking to extend our canine blood donor list. We have been in contact with the Pet Blood Bank, which is a charity supported by Vets Now. They help vets all around the UK supplying blood to dogs in need.

The criteria to be a canine blood donor is

  • Aged 1-8 years old

  • Weigh over 25kg and a lean bodyweight

  • Be in good health (up to date yearly vaccinations)

  • No history of travelling abroad

  • No medication (flea, tick, worm prevention is fine)

  • No history of a heart murmur, seizures or fainting episodes

  • Have a good temperament and be able to lie quietly for 10 minutes while blood is donated

It is a simple test we run in house to test what blood type your dog is.

We have a list of blood donors, should we need to use them in an emergency.

If your dog fits all of the criteria, and you would like your dog to be part of this great program, please email us with your dog's name and the best time you can be contacted, as we know work schedules and certain times may not work for you. There is no obligation, and if you cannot make that time, we will ring the next donor.

One donation can save the lives of up to four dogs.
