Phovia Light Therapy

Coquet Vets is now offering a pioneering new light therapy treatment for our patients. The light is suitable for all wounds that would benefit from faster healing, pyodermas, anal furunculosis, hot spots, abscesses, interdigital cysts, and other skin related conditions.
Our new Phovia Light Therapy System is non-invasive and uses blue, green, yellow, and red LED light in conjunction with a special gel containing chromophones, which work together to promote skin healing and can usually be performed without the need for sedation.
Our Vet, Emily has a Labrador called Bond. He has had on going issues with interdigital cysts in between his toes. He has had previous surgery to remove the cysts but they have grown back. Emily and our Veterinary Nurse, Sue, thought he could benefit from some light therapy treatment.
Our Veterinary Nurses, Sue and Laura, cleaned the area on Bond’s foot with saline, dried it, and then applied the gel. They protected Bond’s eyes with a blanket and both nurses were wearing goggles. See our short video of the treatment below.
The Phovia light was shone onto the area for a two minute cycle. The gel was removed, and the skin allowed to rest for a minute before carrying out a second cycle.
Bond was such a good boy and just sat there whilst the treatment was carried out. As you can see from the photographs below, the results were clearly visible afterwards.
