Reducing Cat Stress During Veterinary Visits
18th November 2022 | Author Coquet Vets
Cats that experience high levels of stress during veterinary examinations are often difficult to handle, displaying severe aggression or excessive avoidance from the veterinary staff. In addition, their heart rate and respiratory rates will increase, which can result in abnormal readings when the vet's do their examinations.
We want to reduce stress and noise as much as possible for our feline friends and be a cat friendly environment. We now have our new cat waiting area in reception, consisting of a screened off area dedicated for cats.
We have cat cubby holes – a 'cat park' - where clients can place their cat baskets. This will help to reduce stress and noise by taking them off the floor so they won’t be able to see other animals. We have also separated the food, so the cat area is specific of cat food, treats and toys.
We hope you like our new cat area in the Coquet Vets’ reception, and we look forward to seeing you at your next visit. If this article has raised any concerns about your cat and stress at home, then please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01665252250 or info@coquetvets.co.uk.
