The month of May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month, which is dedicated to highlighting the important role that nurses play in practice. Find out more about our wonderful Veterinary Nurse team at Coquet Vets: Rosie, Sue, Laura, and Emma.

Rosie - Senior Veterinary Nurse

Rosie started her career working with animals by completing an animal assistant care course. This led her to train and qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2016. Rosie’s experience has included a role within the emergency team as well as referral nursing, but she has decided her love and passion lie within the primary care work, where she loves to be involved in the education of her clients, running nursing clinics, and all other aspects that nursing entails.

Rosie decided to join Coquet Vets to follow her passion for small animal nursing while working for a smaller, independent team. At weekends, Rosie spends time walking her cocker spaniel, Winston, as well as looking after her cats, Theresa and Major.

Sue - Veterinary Nurse

Sue qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2018. Sue did her studies at Durham College and worked in a busy small animal practice in Darlington. Sue previously worked as a hairdresser for over thirty years, but she has always had a passion and love for animals.

Sue has two dogs of her own: a Labrador named Finn and a cocker spaniel named Dotty. When Sue is not at work, she loves walking on the beach and paddle boarding or kayaking on the lake.

Laura - Veterinary Nurse

Laura joined us in April from a primary care practice in Newcastle. Laura qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in April 2019 and worked in emergency veterinary care and referral work before choosing primary care.

Her keen interests in veterinary are anaesthetics, nurse clinics, and radiography.

Laura has always loved caring for animals, having previously volunteered in several practices and an animal sanctuary. She also worked in day care for dogs. She has a sassy black cat called Bane. In her spare time, Laura loves being outside in nature, enjoying hiking and nature photography.

Emma - Student Veterinary Nurse

Emma is a second-year student veterinary nurse. She is studying at Askham Bryan College in Gateshead. Emma has always had an interest in animals. Starting from a young age, Emma had an array of animals, including guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, and hamsters. Emma has a one-year-old golden retriever called Wolf. She spends her weekends walking Wolf and enjoys a bit of interior design in her new home.
